Hi! We’re Brendan & Bec…

Where do we start?

The two of us have known each other around 20 odd years now. We never imagined 20 years later we’d be together, running our own coffee shop. But here we are!

We have both worked in hospitality for all of our working lives, with Bec working front of house, managing hotels & pubs whilst Brendan has gone through the chef ranks in pubs & restaurants. He doesn’t like to brag but he’s worked in London for the Gordon Ramsay company, cooking at Claridges Hotel & The York & Albany, cooking for George Clooney & David Beckham!

We both had a stint working together at our local pub & thought why not try it for ourselves? That makes us the perfect team right? Well, at least we hope so…

We both decided to leave our jobs pre-pandemic (we know, stupid idea) but that brought us to where we are now. As soon as the opportunity to take on The Kiln came up, we knew we had to take the risk.

Brendan has lived in Stewartby all his life, whilst Bec’s family have also grown up in the village. It’s important to us that we can become a central part of the community & be a great meeting place for those in the village & those in surrounding areas. We tried to keep true to the history of the village, hence the name ‘The Kiln’.

We were voted the best café in Herts & Beds in June 2022 at the Muddy Stiletto awards; something we are immensely proud of & grateful for.

We have lots of plans, we’re hoping for a great summer & hope you can come & visit us soon!
